The world society moves from one issue and problem to another very quickly,” said Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the former President of Croatia, assistant secretary general for public diplomacy at NATO under Secretaries General in 2011-2014, co-chair of the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB), during the panel discussion within the framework of the XI Baku Global Forum, APA reports.

“For example, as soon as the Russia-Ukraine war started, the coronavirus pandemic almost became forgotten. This can lead to serious complications later. Considering the world has become like that, over time, we do not rule out the occurrence of further pandemics, in this case, pandemic situations should not be approached indifferently.” – she added.

Mrs. Kitarović said that the pandemic must be monitored: “During the monitoring of the combat against the pandemic among the countries, we saw that some countries did not show their weaknesses in the direction of fighting with pandemic so clearly.”

The former president also expressed her concern over the uneven distribution of vaccines: “This, in its own turn, leads to the digital fragmentation. Such discrimination is unacceptable in the future pandemics. Vaccines should be distributed properly and be as accessible as possible.”
