Former Bulgarian President: Restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity is important event on global level

"I am proud of my signature being in the first agreement on the transportation of natural gas between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, and of the contributions we have made together with President Ilham Aliyev to the cooperation between our countries", said the former President of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, in his statement to APA during his visit to Azerbaijan within the framework of the XII Global Baku Forum.

Rosen Plevneliev mentioned that there are currently strategic partnership relations between the two countries: "I have known President Ilham Aliyev for more than 10 years. He is a leader who united Azerbaijan and restored historical justice. When I was a President, together with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, we managed to make significant contributions to the development of relations between our countries. I visited Baku 10 years ago. Since then, your city has become even more modernized. Personally, as a former president, I am proud of my signature being on the first agreement on the transportation of natural gas between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria and, in general, of the contributions we made with President Ilham Aliyev to the cooperation between our countries."

The former president noted that the four UN resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were implemented by Azerbaijan itself after a 30-year gap.

According to Rosen Plevneliev, he is very pleased with the large-scale restoration activities carried out in the region after the liberation of Garabagh in 2020: "This is no coincidence. The four UN resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were implemented by Azerbaijan itself after a 30-year gap. As a result, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity. This is a significant event not only from a national and regional perspective but also on a global level. I have also visited the city of Shusha. Azerbaijan has not only modernized Shusha but, first and foremost, ensured the return of the population to the city. This policy has not been limited to return alone, but important measures have also been taken to provide jobs for the people returning to their homes. The works I am talking about cover not only Garabagh but the entire territory of Azerbaijan. The policy implemented by your country also showed how the people should unite after the elimination of regional injustice."
