Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov that Türkiye continues its diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, APA reports.
The minister noted that Türkiye’s position has not changed since the beginning of the war: “This is a war that must be stopped and must not spread. Türkiye has played an active role in processes such as the grain deal, the Istanbul talks and prisoner exchanges by using its contacts with Russia and Ukraine. Currently, contacts with the parties and proposals regarding the situation in the Black Sea are continuing.”
He stated that the war has already moved from a destructive stage to a stage of devastation, while attacks against civilians and infrastructure are increasing:
“The war must stop in order to prevent it from spreading further and causing major disasters.”
Hakan Fidan noted that the negative impact of the war on energy prices, food security and the environment is increasing, while the possibility of the conflict spreading to other European countries is undesirable.
