Representatives of the diplomatic corps visiting Karabakh have familiarized themselves with the historical sites of Shusha, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Karabakh reports.
The delegation visited the construction site of a new mosque currently being built in the city of Shusha.
The guests were informed about the new Shusha mosque, which will become a new symbol of the city.
It was noted that the mosque, whose foundation was laid in 2021 by the head of state and whose architectural solution carries symbolic meaning, will stand out as an example of modern architecture in the historic city.
Thus, in accordance with the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, the shape of the mosque will reflect the number 8. This, in turn, will symbolize Victory Day — the day Shusha was liberated from occupation.
The mosque’s two minarets will be in the form of the number 11. This symbolizes the liberation of Shusha and Karabakh in the eleventh month of the year. The mosque, whose minarets will be 72 meters high, is being constructed in the upper part of Shusha.
The exterior surface of the building of this place of worship will be decorated with geometric patterns used in the minarets of Shusha’s ancient mosque.
The construction of the mosque is planned to be completed next year.
