"Using this opportunity, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Mr. Minister on Somalia's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026," Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia Ahmed Moallim Fiqi held in Baku, APA reports.
"Within the framework of today's dialogue, we exchanged views on our next cooperation opportunities," the Minister said.
Jeyhun Bayramov added that expanding Azerbaijan's relations with African countries has always been a priority.
"As part of Azerbaijan's Chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, we have taken on conveying the interests of African countries globally as a special mission. In this regard, we prioritize relations between Azerbaijan and the African Union Commission (AUC). We believe that Azerbaijan-Somalia cooperation makes a special contribution to this."
