On December 6, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov made a speech at the 3rd European Conference on Azerbaijani Studies in Valletta, the capital of the Republic of Malta, MFA told APA.

During his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed Azerbaijan's leadership of the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the country's initiatives in energy security, transportation, and communications, as well as the situation in the region in the post-conflict period.

He emphasized Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to environmental protection and the fight against climate change. Along with numerous initiatives and significant actions, he highlighted some of the most important achievements, including the adoption of the Baku Financial Goal, which surpassed the previous climate finance target three times, reaching $300 billion, the conclusion of negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and the ensuring of the activation of the Loss and Damage Fund starting next year—key successes during Azerbaijan’s leadership of COP29.

Speaking about the 9 initiatives that Azerbaijan has put forward together with international partners and organizations in the field of combating climate change, the minister noted that there is widespread interest in these initiatives and that numerous countries have joined the initiatives.

On the sidelines of his working visit to Valletta, Malta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov attended the 3rd European Conference on Azerbaijani Studies, the Ministry noted on X, APA reports.

According to the Ministry, the Minister has delivered a speech covering issues of Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency, COP29’s outcomes, Azerbaijan’s initiatives in energy security, transport, and communications, as well as the post-conflict efforts and regional security situation. Multiple questions were addressed as part of deliberations with think tanks and academicians.
