FM Bayramov: They are waging smear campaign against us, they targeted Azerbaijan during COP29

"Interference by some major powers in the internal politics of countries pursuing independent policies has historically occurred. What is new is that these processes have never been attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of other states in such an open, aggressive manner," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said this at a joint press conference with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili, APA reports.

The minister said that the real reason for this is that our countries are implementing a sovereign policy in accordance with their national interests, not in accordance with the dictates of some major powers: "There may be various excuses here. We saw this in the example of Georgia. In the example of Azerbaijan, we saw this in restoring our territorial integrity in accordance with international law. Therefore, they reveal their intention to punish us. Various tools can be used. They are conducting a smear campaign against us, they targeted Azerbaijan during a major international event such as COP29. However, if the policy implemented by the state is based on national interests and relies on the support of the people, all foreign forces are helpless in the face of sovereign policy."
