Flags were lowered at the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, OTS has shared a post in this regard, APA report.
"The flags at the OTS Secretariat have been lowered to half-mast in solidarity with Azerbaijan during its national mourning, following the tragic accident near Aktau, Kazakhstan. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, wish strength to the survivors and stand united with all affected nations," the post reads.
Recall that today is a day of mourning in Azerbaijan. By an Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, a national day of mourning was declared on December 26 in connection with the loss of many lives in the crash of the Embraer 190 passenger plane operating the Baku-Grozny route on December 25.
On December 25, an Embraer 190 aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flight J2-8243 on the Baku-Grozny route, diverted towards the city of Aktau due to the necessity of an emergency landing and crashed near Aktau. The plane carried 67 people, including 5 crew members and 62 passengers. As a result of the crash, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survived.
The causes of the crash are under investigation.
