Final meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held

Today, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, took part in the final meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Geneva, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

The session was attended by speakers of parliament who were elected to the committee from the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) geographical groups.

The meeting was opened with an introductory speech by IPU President Tulia Ackson, who provided information about the agenda. It was noted that the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament will host a total of 120 delegations, including the speakers of parliament from 102 countries.

During the event, participants exchanged views on the preparations for the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, the report of the Committee’s previous meeting, the adoption of the final document of the World Conference, and other organizational matters.
