EU Special Representative for South Caucasus visits liberated territories for the first time

Magdalena Grono, European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, has visited the liberated territories of Azerbaijan for the first time, APA reports.

The visit is taking place within the framework of a two-day trip to Karabakh and East Zangezur organized for members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan. The delegation is accompanied by Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.

Note that the visiting delegation consists of 150 representatives from 58 countries and 9 international organizations. During the tour, the diplomats will inspect socio-economic infrastructure projects being implemented as part of the large-scale restoration, reconstruction, and development process led by President Ilham Aliyev in the cities of Khankendi and Shusha, as well as the Aghdara and Kalbajar districts. They will also assess the current condition of historical and cultural heritage sites, along with measures underway for their protection and restoration. This marks the 22nd visit organized for representatives of the diplomatic corps to the liberated territories since 2020.
