EU: It is important that Azerbaijani and Armenian FMs meet in Tbilisi

Toivo Klaar, the special representative of the European Union (EU) on the crisis in South Caucasus and Georgia has disclosed the details of the meeting with Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.

Klaar said that he hoped the cooperation between the EU and the three countries of the South Caucasus will further increase adding that it is important that three countries make joint efforts for achieving peace in the region.

“It is very important for the three countries of the South Caucasus to work together and promote peace, and here Georgia, which acts as a bridge between Azerbaijan and Armenia, is very important. Prime Minister and I discussed the steps taken in this regard and I hope that there will be more cooperation between the EU and Georgia, EU, and the three countries of the South Caucasus in this field in the future,” noted the special representative.

Toivo Klaar noted that holding meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers in Tbilisi is important and Georgia can still host high-level meetings in various formats. He added that all three countries located in the same place should try to cooperate in other areas such as transport, energy, and environmental protection.

"I see great potential for it both now and in the future," said Klaar.
