The EU confirms its commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus
"Yesterday, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos concluded her visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia, reaffirming the EU's commitment to peace, stability, and economic development in the South Caucasus," Commissioner for EU Enlargement, Marta Kos, said in a statement regarding her visits to Azerbaijan and Armenia, APA reports.
Support for the normalization process: Armenia-Azerbaijan relations on the agenda
During her visit, Marta Kos reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to peace, stability, and economic development in the South Caucasus and emphasized support for the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“The Commissioner noted the EU’s role in strengthening regional connectivity through trade routes, infrastructure projects, and people-to-people ties,” the statement said.
A High-Level Economic Working Group will be established within the framework of the “Global Gateway”
It was stated that as part of the Commissioner’s visit to Azerbaijan, an agreement was reached to establish a High-Level Economic Working Group aimed at expanding economic cooperation with the EU and attracting investments within the framework of the “Global Gateway” initiative.
The EU allocates 23 million euros for humanitarian demining in Azerbaijan
She also confirmed that the EU will continue its support in the field of humanitarian demining: “The EU and its member states are allocating up to 23 million euros under the ‘Team Europe’ initiative. The statements made during my visit back this vision with concrete resources and turn the latest diplomatic progress into tangible results for the entire region.
