At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Huseyn Rahimli, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of South Africa, visited Eswatini on February 18–21 to attend the opening ceremony of the country’s Parliament, the Embassy told APA.
A meeting was held at the royal palace on February 19 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms. Pholile Shakantu, and H. Rahimli as part of the visit.
During the meeting, the sides reviewed prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Subsequently, King Mswati III of Eswatini received Rahimli. During the meeting, King Mswati III conveyed his sincere greetings to the President of Azerbaijan and emphasized the warm and friendly relations established between the two leaders, expressing satisfaction with these ties. The King also stated that he plans to participate in the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan.
On February 20, H. Rahimli attended the opening ceremony of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Following the event, during a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Jabulani Mabuza, it was particularly emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy could play a significant role in advancing the cooperation agenda.
H. Rahimli noted that the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan currently serves as Chair of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and drew attention to the existing opportunities for cooperation in this area as well.
