Discussion on multipolarity held at Global Baku Forum

Within the framework of the XII Global Baku Forum, a panel titled "Rethinking World Order: Turning Challenges into Opportunities" was held on the topic "Revisiting Multilateralism for a Multipolar World," APA reports.

According to the report, the moderator of the event was Yves Leterme, former Prime Minister of Belgium.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), stated during the panel that the United States provides 30% of the WHO's funding, and its withdrawal from the organization would lead to the suspension of malaria control and other health programs.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that official Baku attaches special importance to multilateral relations. The Minister emphasized that while Azerbaijan works to ensure its own interests, it also takes the interests of other parties into account. He said, "We should join multilateral organizations based on common interests. Azerbaijan remains committed to multilateral cooperation. Formats such as Azerbaijan-Georgia, Azerbaijan-Türkiye, and Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Kazakhstan were put forward. History shows that unilateralism and bilateralism have not been very effective."

Former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, stated that reforms in the UN Security Council are possible: "I also thank the WHO for carrying out vaccine-related work on time despite the pressures, and the vaccines have been delivered."

President of the 62nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly and former Foreign Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Srgjan Kerim stated that the dissolution of the UN could be a tragedy for the world: "The US should not withdraw from the UN. The time for reform of the UN Security Council is long overdue. If there is the G20, why shouldn’t the composition of the UN Security Council be changed accordingly?!"
