The importance of the transit capabilities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) countries is increasing, said Shafaat Nurullayeva, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, during her speech at the conference entitled “The Organization of Turkic States: As a Regional Actor during Global Uncertainty,” APA reports/
According to her, based on recent statistics, the volume of goods transported through the territories of OTS countries has increased sixfold, reaching 4 million tons.
Noting that the process of economic integration among the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) countries is intensifying, Nurullayeva stated that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of these countries currently amounts to 2.1 trillion dollars, which accounts for 2 percent of the global GDP.
“The foreign trade turnover of the OTS countries between 2024-2025 reached 45 billion dollars, whereas in 2021-2022 this figure was 31 billion dollars,” Nurullayeva noted.
Nurullayeva also emphasized that Uzbekistan intends to host the international forum of OTS member countries in November of this year.
