Delegation of Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office visits Argentina

A delegation led by Deputy Prosecutor General Heydar Mammadov paid a working visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina, on April 7–9 to participate in the 59th meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), APA reports, citing the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

It was noted that during the meeting, issues covering the main areas of the organization's activities were discussed. The candidacies of new members to the Executive Committee from currently represented and vacant regions were revised. Proposed changes to the election procedures of the organization's governing bodies within the Charter were also discussed. Additionally, organizational work related to the preparation of the Association's upcoming annual meetings and regional conferences was reviewed.

Furthermore, based on the voting results held during the Executive Committee meeting, it was recommended that Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev be re-elected as the Vice-President of the Association for another two years, until 2027.

During the meeting, Deputy Prosecutor General Heydar Mammadov delivered the greetings of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Vice-President of the Association, Mr. Kamran Aliyev, to the participants and presented a detailed report on the outcomes of the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the IAP held in Baku from September 30 to October 2 last year.

In his speech, Heydar Mammadov emphasized that the Baku Conference was a long-planned initiative and that the political support of President Ilham Aliyev played a significant role in its realization. He noted that, alongside the employees of the prosecutor’s office, several government agencies and volunteers actively participated in the successful organization of the conference.

During the visit, Deputy Prosecutor General Heydar Mammadov also held bilateral meetings with the President of the IAP and his counterparts from Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Chile, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

At the meetings, opinions were exchanged on legal cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
