“The Middle Corridor will be one of the main and priority topics during the visit of the President of Azerbaijan,” said David Apstsiauri, Director General of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Tbilisi reports.

David Apstsiauri noted that the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Georgia once again emphasizes the traditional nature of brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries and highlights the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation: “Today, alongside the prospects of bilateral cooperation, issues such as the situation in the region and global risks are highly relevant and even urgent. At the same time, it is important how Azerbaijan and Georgia can contribute to reducing these risks based on their bilateral cooperation. This is of great importance both in terms of national development and regional and global stability.”

The Director General of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that today Azerbaijan and Georgia are not only a successful example of bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially in the economic sphere, but also that the geopolitical weight of the two countries and the format of their interaction have already acquired new dimensions: “This is evident on the scale of geopolitics and geoeconomics and is particularly related to participation in global projects. I am fully confident that the development of the Middle Corridor and participation in this project will be among the main and priority topics. We have already reached a stage where there is a need to discuss concrete issues related to the practical implementation of this project, and this will undoubtedly be on the agenda. Thus, although this visit is traditionally a brotherly visit between two friendly and neighboring states, its significance goes beyond the framework of bilateral dialogue.”

David Apstsiauri emphasized that today the importance of the South Caucasus has risen to a completely new level globally: “The peace process initiated between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the agreements reached will contribute to strengthening overall stability in the region. This, in turn, opens up new opportunities for the development of new transport corridors, expansion of trade, increase in investments and further development of cooperation in other areas. Therefore, this process should be welcomed. A more stable region means a stronger region, and past conflicts should gradually become history. The tragedies experienced in the recent past should also remain in history. Today is the time for cooperation, not confrontation. However, unfortunately, many conflicts still exist in different parts of the world. In this context, the role of Azerbaijan and Georgia should be especially noted. Both countries demonstrate that despite external influences and serious threats, states can develop their relations in a positive direction and strengthen their economies. Indeed, today both states are developing dynamically, economic potential is increasing, stable relations are maintained, and they act as “islands” embodying stability and calm. This is very important. This example will also be interesting and significant for other countries, especially at a time when the whole world is facing uncertainty and complex, contradictory processes are unfolding rapidly. Therefore, I would like to emphasize once again that the region has very good prospects and its importance will increase further in the future.”
