Azerbaijan is able to convey its values to the international community through ICESCO, Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community Aziz Alekberli told journalists, APA reports.
Activities of the West Azerbaijan Community and Cooperation with ICESCO
According to him, during the meeting with ICESCO leadership, attention will be drawn to the historical heritage and rights of Azerbaijanis who once lived in Western Azerbaijan, as well as ongoing efforts in this area.
Close cooperation between Azerbaijan and ICESCO
Alekberli also emphasized the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and ICESCO: “Through ICESCO, Azerbaijan not only presents its national values in science, education, and culture to the international community but also actively works to promote and protect them,” he said.
Protection of Cultural Heritage in Western Azerbaijan and Support from International Organizations
Aziz Alekberli stated that using ICESCO's resources to prevent the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage in Western Azerbaijan is a priority.
According to him, the cultural heritage in Western Azerbaijan is not only part of the Azerbaijani people’s history but also a significant part of the Islamic world and global cultural heritage. "The destruction of these monuments is not just an attack on Azerbaijani culture but also a crime against world cultural heritage. The Western Azerbaijan Community has meticulously documented these monuments, and we will provide ICESCO with detailed information about their condition. Our goal is to prevent the destruction of Azerbaijani and Muslim cultural heritage in Western Azerbaijan through the support of ICESCO."
Appeal to UNESCO Regarding the Tepebashi Mosque
Aziz Alekberli also added that an appeal has been made to UNESCO and other international organizations regarding the preservation of the Tepebashi Mosque, which was built by Abbasgulu Khan Iravanski. "We have raised our voice for the protection of cultural heritage in these areas and to prevent the destruction of these monuments," he concluded.
