Europe is building better connections with Central Asia through Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Türkiye, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos told journalists ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, APA reports.

“Today, we see how correct the European Commission’s Black Sea strategy is. Connectivity is also part of this strategy. Within this connectivity framework, we are linking Europe more effectively with Central Asia through Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye,” she said.

Kos particularly emphasized that the main topics in connectivity are trade and energy.

“Trade routes in the north are closed due to Russia, and the use of southern trade routes has been halted due to the war with Iran,” Kos noted.

She added that today the EU will discuss the development of relations with South Caucasus countries, particularly Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Türkiye.
