“Our cooperation makes a real contribution to the well-being of our peoples," said Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, during her speech at the annual press conference for 2025, APA reports.
The ambassador said that cooperation between China and Azerbaijan not only provides mutual benefits but also makes a real contribution to the peoples of both countries. According to her, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Humanitarian Mine Clearance signed by the heads of state, China provided financial assistance of 2 million yuan ($285 thousand) to ANAMA:
“This support has contributed to enhancing mine clearance capabilities and restoration work in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and has helped ensure the safety of the local population.”
Lu Mei stated that China is also implementing projects in the humanitarian field. Through the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, electronic equipment made in China was provided to two orphanages in the Khazar district of Baku, and China–Azerbaijan friendship digital classrooms were established. The ambassador added that she also participated in the presentation of distance education equipment funded by China in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. As part of the project, 216 schools in Nakhchivan were provided with new equipment.
The diplomat noted that Azerbaijan has also supported social initiatives in China:“Azerbaijan has provided assistance for the construction of a playground at the No. 2 Primary School in Malipo County, Yunnan Province, China. These projects are sincere examples of friendship between our peoples and are particularly aimed at the younger generation.”
The ambassador emphasized that humanitarian exchanges further strengthen the foundations of China–Azerbaijan friendship. According to her, cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and tourism developed actively over the past year.
