We met with the Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Thomas Stähli, yesterday regarding the Open Letter of the Azerbaijani National NGO Forum dated June 5, 2025. On behalf of the umbrella organization uniting hundreds of Azerbaijani NGOs, we informed Thomas Stähli that Switzerland should not turn a blind eye to real, fair, and substantial facts and become a platform for a slander campaign against Azerbaijan, Ramil Iskanderli, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijani National NGO Forum said, APA reports.
“We brought to the attention of the ambassador that such initiatives against Azerbaijan in Switzerland do not serve peace and trust-building in the region, but rather inflame revanchism in Armenia and create fertile ground for the re-promotion of separatism. Expressing the position of Azerbaijani civil society, we emphasized the importance of putting an end to such provocative steps and activities,” Ramil Iskanderli noted.
It should be noted that on June 5, the Azerbaijani National NGO Forum addressed an open letter to the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Azerbaijan, Thomas Stähli.
It was noted that recently, there has been an increase in anti-Azerbaijani activity in Switzerland, and that the Swiss Parliament's Council of Cantons (Senate) has made proposals under the guise of an "international peace forum" that undermine peace and stability in the South Caucasus and defend the position of revanchists, led by the church in Armenia: "We also accept the event organized by the Swiss Protestant Church in Bern, together with the Armenian Church, on the topic of "Armenian heritage" in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan as a continuation of this series."
