Bulgaria has evacuated its diplomatic staff and their families from the embassy in Tehran to Azerbaijan amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, APA reports.

He noted that Bulgaria has closed its embassy in Tehran and evacuated its diplomatic staff and their families to neighboring Azerbaijan due to the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel.

Zhelyazkov mentioned that after Israel advised its citizens to evacuate the third district of Tehran, 12 people and their family members were evacuated from the embassy.

“Our embassy was in close proximity to the area, so we decided to evacuate our diplomats. The embassy will continue operating from Baku,” the Prime Minister stated.
