The symbolic gift of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has been presented to the leader of the Kanaks held in a French prison, APA reports, citing the Baku Initiative Group.
Participants of the international conference "Colonialism: Erasure of Religious-National Identity," organized by BIG in Baku in March, presented a T-shirt with a photo of political prisoner and leader of the Kanak independence movement, Christian Tein, along with signatures from the conference participants, to his brother, Desire Tein.
The symbolic gift was requested to be delivered to the president of FLNKS, who is held in a French prison.
Recently, the T-shirt was presented to Olga Tein, Kristian Tein's wife, in a prison in Mulhouse, France.
In his speech, Desire Tein shared information about the event they participated in Azerbaijan and stated that the event organized by Azerbaijan was remarkable for raising awareness of this issue, particularly regarding the prisoners' conditions, and helping the international community understand the essence of the problem.
“The BIG has supported us from the first stage. This T-shirt was presented to us by the Executive Director of BIG to be delivered to Kristian,” said Desire Tein, as he showed the T-shirt, signed by representatives of the territories under French rule, and handed it to the wife of the FLNKS leader.
