Along with traditional threats, non-traditional threats have also increased in Asia, said Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, at the session on Strengthening Security in Asia during the CICA forum held today, APA reports.
He noted that 60% of natural disasters worldwide occur in Asia. The director added that a 30% increase is observed in the number of cyberattacks in the region.
Iftekhar Anis emphasized that the Asian region is highly vulnerable to climate change and pandemics, and cooperation among regional countries must be strengthened in this regard.
