The 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was marked in Baku on July 28, APA reports.
The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and China.
Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said this year marks the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
"Since its establishment in 1927, the Chinese People's Liberation Army has remained committed to safeguarding the country's national sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and development. At the same time, the Chinese People's Liberation Army, as a supporter of world peace, makes an important contribution to global stability.
The diplomat also stressed that military cooperation is one of the key areas of the bilateral strategic partnership.
"The Chinese military is ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and make new contributions to our bilateral cooperation," he said.
China's military attaché to Azerbaijan, Colonel Sun Zhong, noted that exchanges and cooperation in the military sphere constitute an important component of bilateral relations.
