"We support the fight against colonialism only within the framework of international law," Abbas Abbasov, executive director of the Baku Initiative Group said at an international conference dedicated to the island of Saint Martin, which was under the colonial rule of France and the Netherlands, APA reports.

According to him, the Baku Initiative Group has so far held various conferences and other events at the local and international levels to combat colonialism.

"The Baku Initiative Group periodically sends information to various international organizations about the difficult socio-economic conditions of the peoples suffering from French and Dutch colonialism. At the same time, we have so far implemented a number of measures on both local and international platforms to support the freedom struggle of the peoples of New Caledonia and Martinique living under colonial conditions. We are in favor of ending colonialism only by fighting within the framework of international law."
