Baku hosts First Meeting of Foreign Affairs Committee Chairs of Turkic States’ Parliaments

The First Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairs of the Parliaments of the Turkic States was held in Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), APA reports.

The meeting was attended by delegations of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Northern Cyprus, Uzbekistan, Hungary and Kyrgyzstan.

The agenda of the meeting included the coordination of the work of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the deepening of integration processes in the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the discussion of other issues.

Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye, welcomed the diplomatic return of four villages of Gazakh, which have been under the occupation of Armenia for many years in his speech at First Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairs of the Parliaments of the Turkic States held in Baku and congratulated the people of Azerbaijan. According to him, it is important and very significant to open the Zangezur corridor in a short time.

Yasemin Öztürk, Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said that the recently formed friendship group in the parliament of Azerbaijan will play an important role in the further development of relations. She underscored that fight for independence of Northern Cyprus is the struggle of the Turkic world as a whole.

Aydos Sarym, the Chairman of the Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Kazakhstan, said that all initiatives which were put forward in recent times serve to further increase Turkic states getting organized. According to him, this alliance, which exists in the Turkic world, is very important also in terms of exhibiting a common position in international organizations.

Speaking on behalf of the Kyrgyz delegation, Leyla Lurova, chairman of the committee of Jogorku Kenesh, touched upon Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s visit to Baku. She said that the mentioned official visit is important in terms of bringing relations with Azerbaijan to a new level.

In the speeches, confidence was expressed that the expansion of relations within the framework of international organizations, including partnership relations within the framework of TURKPA, will further strengthen peace and stability in the region.
