Today, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev met with Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Farzaneh Sadegh, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.
Satisfaction was expressed at the meeting with the comprehensive development of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.
The sides exchanged views on current issues on the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation, especially transport-transit, energy, customs and other areas.
Issues related to the completion of the construction of the Aghband-Kalaleh highway bridge and customs-border infrastructure over the Araz River within the framework of the project for the development of transport links between the East Zangezur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were discussed.
The parties reviewed current issues on the agenda related to the development of the North-South international transport corridor.
It was noted that the volume of transportation along the North-South corridor increased by 8.3% in the first 9 months of 2025, of which 10.4% was accounted for by automobile transportation and 2% by railway transportation.
It was noted that the coordinated implementation of the work carried out to expand the infrastructure along the corridor and ensuring a continuous increase in the volume of cargo transportation is of great importance. In this context, the importance of completing the construction of the Southern Cargo Terminal, an important component of the corridor, was emphasized.
They also exchanged views on the necessary measures to be taken to fully operate the automobile bridge built over the Astarachay River.
The parties also noted the importance of the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia meeting held in Baku in terms of further expanding trade-economic, transport and energy relations between the three countries.
