Baku hosted Azerbaijan–C6 think tanks conference - PHOTO  -UPDATED

An international conference titled “C6: One Region, Shared Future – Strengthening Strategic Dialogue” was held in Baku today, organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), APA reports.

A total of nearly 60 representatives from leading analytical centers of the countries included in the C6 format took part in the event.

Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations, Farid Shafiyev, stated that Azerbaijan’s accession as a full member to the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia in November 2025 marks a new stage in regional cooperation.

Turkmenistan’s representative, Director of the Strategic Research Center Shiri Shiriyev, described the C6 format not only as a dialogue platform but also as a practical mechanism that formulates joint solutions in an unstable global environment.

Thematic sessions discussed and analyzed the need for formal institutions and the effectiveness of flexible cooperation formats, regional synergy and competition issues within the Trans-Caspian region and the Middle Corridor, and common and different threats to security.

Sanat Kushkumbayev, a representative of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, noted that Azerbaijan’s accession to the C6 format provides the region with maritime connectivity.

Tajik expert Komroni Hidayotzoda stated that the Middle Corridor is one of his country’s priority directions and emphasized the importance of permanent transport access.

Kazakh political scientist Sultan Akimbekov noted that amid the weakening of globalization, regional integration is strengthening, creating new opportunities.

Uzbekistan’s representative Akramjon Nematov stated that the security architecture in Central Asia is entering a new stage.

The conference concluded with a question-and-answer discussion session.

Representatives of leading think tanks from C6 member countries, diplomats from those states, and experts are participating in the conference.

As part of the event, discussions will be held on the topics: “From Dialogue to Sustainable Mechanisms: The Future of C6 Cooperation,” “Connectivity and Development: The Economic Dimension and Sustainable Development of C6 Cooperation,” and “C6 Regional Security Amid Global Instability.”
