The Azerbaijani city of Lachin will become the cultural capital of the CIS in 2025, then the baton will pass to the Armenian Meghri, and after that to the Belarusian Molodechno, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the CIS summit, APA reports.
"Every year we choose the cultural capital of the Commonwealth, which becomes the center for holding bright, creative and humanitarian events that attract the keen interest of citizens of all our countries. Now it is Samarkand, and next year, in accordance with the project solution proposed for our approval, the baton will be taken up by Azerbaijani Lachin, then in 2026 - Armenian Meghri, and in 2027 - Belarusian Molodechno," the Russian President said.
Putin also noted that humanitarian spaces are developing dynamically in the CIS countries, partnership in science and education, culture and tourism is deepening. "The activities of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly play a major role in promoting cooperation, which was confirmed by its latest meeting, which was very productively held on July 12 this year in St. Petersburg," the Russian leader emphasized.
