Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister addressed the Ambassadors' Conference in Belgrade - UPDATED

As part of his working visit to Serbia, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated at the Ambassadors' Conference in Belgrade, APA reports.

Addressing the event, Jeyhun Bayramov touched upon the political, economic, energy and humanitarian aspects of the Azerbaijan-Serbia strategic partnership, as well as common regional challenges and joint approach in combating them.

Emphasizing nearly 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Bayramov pointed out the significant role of the two countries’ presidents in contributing to the development of a multifaceted strategic partnership. Bayramov underscored the pivotal roles of mechanisms like the Strategic Partnership Council, the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and political consultations in strengthening bilateral ties.

Minister Bayramov comprehensively provided insights into Azerbaijan's critical role in energy diversification of Europe, as well as future green energy plans to link Europe and Central Asia through Caspian and Black Sea basins.

The minister also informed the attendees about the outcomes of the COP29 climate conference in Baku, highlighting agreements on climate finance targets, finalization of the Paris Agreement’s Article 6 discussions, and the establishment of the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage.

Bayramov reflected on the shared historical context of Azerbaijan and Serbia, including their simultaneous paths to independence and experiences with selective international law application and double standards. He emphasized the countries' mutual commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity, favoring direct negotiations over reliance on foreign actors or geopolitical entanglements.

The conference were attended by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djurić, the staff of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors, as well as Ana Brnabić, Serbian National Assembly Speaker.
