Azerbaijan’s Emergency Situations Minister meets with civil defence chiefs of ICDO member states in Baku -VIDEO

The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with the Minister for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Natural Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kurenkov, Director of the Civil Defence of the State of Palestine Akram Thawabta, Director of Irbid Civil Defense Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Youssef Ahmad Salem Al-Shakatrah, Deputy Head of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate Mohammed Ali Al-Qatani, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence of Kingdom of Bahrain Ali Mohammed Jassim Al-Kubaisi and Director-General of Saudi Civil Defense Hammoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj, who arrived in our country to participate in the 58th session of the Executive Council of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) held in Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.

Warmly welcoming the guests, Minister K. Heydarov spoke about the comprehensive actions implemented in our country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in the direction of civil defense and protection of the population from emergencies. He emphasized that the Azerbaijani state consistently places special importance on ensuring the safety of its population and territories.

The Minister noted that in the context of increasing risks year by year and the fact that emergencies know no borders, joint and coordinated actions among countries in response to disasters are essential. In this sense, the central role of the International Civil Defence Organization in uniting the efforts of the countries around the world was emphasized, and confidence was expressed that the 58th session of the Organization's Executive Council, held in our country, would be beneficial.

Expressing their gratitude for the warm meeting and hospitality, the guests noted that the 58th session of the ICDO Executive Council held in Baku was organized at a high level.

The meetings discussed the current state and development prospects of relations between the relevant agencies and touched upon the importance of mutual exchange of experience. The parties expressed confidence that the session, bilateral meetings, and discussions held in Baku will take relations between the countries' emergency management agencies, both within the framework of the ICDO and on a bilateral basis, to a new level.

A broad exchange of views was held on issues of mutual interest during the meetings.
