A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chief Negotiator of COP29 Yalchin Rafiyev visited the Republic of Cuba on May 22, 2025, Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
Within the framework of the visit, working meetings were held with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba for Multilateral Cooperation, Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, as well as with the ambassadors of the member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) accredited to Cuba, and an interview was given to the Cuban television channel Cubavision Internacional.
During the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, satisfaction was expressed with the successful cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba, especially within the framework of international organizations. The parties exchanged views on the fight against climate change and the historic results achieved within the framework of Azerbaijan's presidency of COP29 in this context, and stressed the importance of joint efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation.
During the meeting with the ambassadors of CARICOM member states in Cuba, it was noted that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with the CARICOM organization and its member states. The humanitarian and development assistance support provided by Azerbaijan to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) during and after its presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement was highlighted.
During the meeting, mutual interest was expressed in expanding relations between Azerbaijan and the aforementioned organization, promoting joint projects, and strengthening cooperation on multilateral platforms.
