On August 29-30, 2024, the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Yaoundé, the capital of the Republic of Cameroon, MFA told APA.
Azerbaijan was represented at the session by the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov.
Elnur Mammadyarov provided detailed information on the normalization process following the end of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, as well as on Armenia's provocative actions and threats related to landmines that are hindering this process.
The Deputy Minister emphasized Azerbaijan's full commitment to the normalization process it has initiated and proposed to Armenia.
During his speech, the Deputy Minister also announced that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year and highlighted that it is a remarkable fact that the event will be held in an OIC member state for three consecutive years. Emphasizing that hosting COP29 is a significant milestone for Azerbaijan, the Deputy Minister pointed out that Azerbaijan will do its best to mobilize the international community in the advancement of the global climate agenda, using the experience of the recently concluded chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in uniting countries with different levels of development and political affiliation.
At the conclusion of the Council of Ministers session, four resolutions proposed by Azerbaijan were adopted.
