On December 6, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with a delegation led by US Deputy Secretary of State Joshua Haque for European and Eurasian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
According to the report, at the meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the prospects for the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed.
The importance of historical cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in a number of directions and the importance of developing bilateral relations within the framework of mutual interests were noted.
Azerbaijan-US cooperation within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan hosted in November of this year, was highly appreciated.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov informed the other party about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period and the negotiations on a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Despite significant progress in the negotiations on the peace agreement, the ongoing claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia, in legislative acts, as well as in international organizations and courts, were once again mentioned, and the importance of abandoning these claims was emphasized.
Also, views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were exchanged at the meeting.
