As part of his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay, as well as ambassadors of CICA member states, APA reports, citing The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, issues arising from Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of CICA and its priorities, as well as efforts to expand cooperation within the framework of CICA, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the key priorities of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship, emphasized the broad prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, taking into account the important geographical position of CICA member countries.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s chairmanship also focuses on the institutionalization of CICA and the expansion of its operational capabilities, highlighted the significance of the new CICA headquarters in further enhancing the efficiency of the organization’s work in this regard.
It was noted that the ongoing processes in the region and the world have strengthened CICA’s role and significance as an inclusive platform in the region, the importance of supporting the initiatives and efforts undertaken during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and ensuring active participation within the framework of CICA by all member states was also emphasized.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
