"The threat of landmines jeopardizes the return of displaced people to their homes and reconstruction efforts," Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN Tofig Musayev said in his speech at the organization's annual plenary session, APA reports.
The diplomat noted that landmines are even buried in places considered historical and cultural monuments, including cemeteries. He also touched upon the prevention of genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, among other topics.
