One of the important provisions in the Joint Declaration concerns the opening of transport and communication lines in the region, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the special meeting dedicated to the historic visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Washington, APA reports.
The Prime Minister said that this is not only the strengthening of bilateral relations but also an increase in Azerbaijan's role on the global economic and transport map of the region: “The trilateral summit held in Washington with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan, the USA, and Armenia is a clear manifestation of this. The trilateral Joint Declaration signed at the conclusion of this meeting demonstrates that the peace promoted by Azerbaijan for many years has gained wide international support and has been officially recognized. This document, which forms an important political framework for establishing peace in the region, also constitutes the basis for future mutual understanding. The Joint Declaration is a comprehensive document that not only ends the long-standing armed conflict between the two countries but is also the result of the Azerbaijani people's struggle for historical justice, an expression of our state's political-diplomatic power and international prestige. Azerbaijan, which implemented the UN resolutions that had remained on paper for years, restored justice by military means and at the cost of its martyrs' blood, acting as the author of the peace treaty with Armenia, put an end to the conflict on a political level as well.”
Ali Asadov noted that after the Patriotic War, President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly and firmly stated that the unobstructed land connection of the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan must be ensured: “Despite all difficulties, disagreements, and various positions, this demand of the President of Azerbaijan was also accepted by Armenia. The document signed in Washington clearly emphasizes the importance of ensuring unobstructed and reliable communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. For this purpose, a special infrastructure initiative supported by the USA — the ‘Tramp Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP) — is envisaged. This will create a significant change not only for Azerbaijan but also in the economic and geopolitical map of the entire region. On my own behalf and on behalf of the government, I sincerely congratulate the President of Azerbaijan and the people on the victory in Washington.”
