On September 24, the parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, arrived at the Milli Majlis, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
After getting acquainted with the plenary session hall of the parliament, the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum in the Milli Majlis, where Ana Brnabić signed the Memorial Book.
Then, a meeting was held in an expanded format between the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, and the Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, Ana Brnabić.
Welcoming the guest, Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the important role of high-level reciprocal visits between the countries, which are friends and strategic partners.
In this context, the Speaker drew attention to the importance of the mutual visits, meetings, and documents signed during these visits by President Ilham Aliyev and President Aleksandar Vučić.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed satisfaction with the successful development of relations and said that mutual support and solidarity are being demonstrated between the countries within the framework of international organizations.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis noted the positive impact of mutual visits on the development of relations in the context of interparliamentary relations. Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the role of mutual friendship groups in the development of interparliamentary relations, expressed satisfaction with cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary organizations and spoke about the opportunities for establishing cooperation between parliamentary committees.
Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabić conveyed her congratulations on the development and achievements she has witnessed in Azerbaijan. She noted that Azerbaijan is a friendly and allied country for Serbia, and they are proud to support each other. She expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's support on the issue of territorial integrity.
Ana Brnabić emphasized that Azerbaijan is a country that protects its national interests and values, and Serbia highly appreciates this.
The Speaker of the National Assembly noted the importance of the existing relations between the two countries in the economic sphere, including cooperation in the energy sector. She emphasized that energy security is an integral part of the national security of every country, and expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's support in this direction.
During the conversation, Ana Brnabić noted that as the Speaker of the Parliament, she will work to further develop relations between the parliaments of the two countries.
The conversation also included an exchange of views on the exchange of experience between the parliaments and other issues of interest.
After the meeting, the guests got acquainted with the "Victory Corner" created in the lobby of the Milli Majlis and dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War.
