At the international forum “For the Freedom of Peoples” held in Moscow, dedicated to the fight against neo-colonialism, MP of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Nizami Safarov gave a worthy answer to the representative of Armenia, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

At an international forum organized by the United Russia party, the representative of Armenia, ex-MP Arman Abovyan tried to accuse Azerbaijan of destroying historical and religious monuments of the unrecognized "Republic of Artsakh".

MP Nizami Safarov responded to the representative of Armenia, who made false accusations against the Azerbaijani state, with historical facts.

“The representative of Armenia forced me to make several comments. Today, a completely new geopolitical situation has emerged in the South Caucasus region. The 30-year conflict, which was associated with Armenia’s encroachment on the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, has ended. This conflict was accompanied by genocide, ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, as in Armenia, and on the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, as well as war crimes against humanity. If someone visited the already liberated territories of Azerbaijan, he saw that these territories resemble, at best, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. More than a million mines were installed on the territories of Azerbaijan. Even after military actions in the territories of Azerbaijan, mines were installed that were produced in Armenia in 2021, and since then more than 350 civilians have become victims of mines planted by Armenians,” the Azerbaijani MP said.

N. Safarov added that Azerbaijan offers an effective platform for signing a peace treaty. These proposals meet the interests of all peoples of the South Caucasus region.

“Unfortunately, several issues remain unresolved to this day, which delays the establishment of long-term peace and an international security regime in the South Caucasus. Once again, I note with regret that the speeches of many representatives of Armenia contain Islamophobic accents. This is unacceptable. Do not forget that we gathered at this forum to discuss ways to combat neo-colonialism, and not mutual hostility,” concluded the MP.
