Azerbaijani Minister of Internal Affairs met with his Georgian counterpart -PHOTO

At the invitation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Gela Geladze, arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told APA.

According to the report, Gela Geladze and his accompanying representatives visited the Alley of Honor and paid tribute to the dear memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vilayat Eyvazov, met with a delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Gela Geladze.

Welcoming the guests, V. Eyvazov congratulated Gela Geladze on his appointment as the Minister of Internal Affairs and expressed his confidence that this visit would serve to further strengthen cooperation. He recalled that the friendship between the two peoples has an ancient history, and that relations between both states have always been of a strategic partnership nature, and noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the leadership of Georgia attach special importance to the further expansion of bilateral relations. Mr. Vilayat Eyvazov stated that these relations have developed successfully in accordance with the political will of the heads of state and government, and have deepened as a result of mutual visits by heads of state and government.

It was noted that cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs, especially joint relations in the fight against all types of transnational crime, including cybercrime, the exchange of experience and information, and the established regulatory and legal framework primarily serve the interests of two friendly and fraternal peoples, as well as ensuring security in the region.

When touching upon the problems, it was noted that drug trafficking, international terrorism, human trafficking, and illegal migration, the fight against cybercrime are always in the spotlight, and that an effective fight against them is possible only through joint efforts.

During the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of sincerity, a detailed exchange of views was also held on a number of other issues of interest to the parties.

Gela Geladze thanked for the meeting, detailed information, and the hospitality shown, and expressed his interest in further developing relations between the internal affairs bodies of Azerbaijan, a friendly neighbor and close friend, and the relevant agencies of his country, and that he would spare no effort for this in the future.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Georgia to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze.
