The withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the region has given an additional impetus to the peace process, said Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a special meeting dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Washington held at the Cabinet of Ministers, APA reports.
The minister said that within two days of the end of the operation, the Azerbaijani side organized visits to the region by representatives of UN agencies and two UN missions, as well as foreign embassies, demonstrating to the whole world that, contrary to claims, no civilians or facilities were targeted during the operations and that military equipment was concentrated in the region on a large scale, thereby proving that the steps taken were in accordance with international law and legitimate: "This process also gave a positive impetus to the negotiations on a peace agreement. After the 2023 anti-terrorist measures, the Karabakh issue, which Armenia had been trying to advance for a long time in the negotiation process, was completely removed from the negotiating table. Against the background of new realities, the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the region a year and a half before the end of their mandate gave an additional impetus to the peace process."
