On March 14, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Asad Majid Khan, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the 12th Baku Global Forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The issues such as cooperation opportunities within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization, efforts to strengthen the Organization’s activities, preparations for the upcoming Summit to be held in Azerbaijan, as well as regional issues were discussed at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan gives significant importance to the Economic Cooperation Organization's work, that the region covered by the Organization offers rich opportunities in the areas of economy, trade, and transport-communications and in this context he highlighted the importance of utilizing the existing potential of the region.
Azerbaijan's 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) presidency was discussed, and the importance of advancing environmental initiatives within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization was emphasized.
It was stressed that the Summit, to be held in Azerbaijan this year, will play a crucial role in the development and strengthening of the Economic Cooperation Organization, importance of the active participation and contributions of member countries have been highlighted in this regard.
During the meeting, other matters of mutual interest were also discussed.
