On June 25, 2025, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Azerbaijan, Anas Eltayeb Elgaylani Mustafa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, who congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda, including the current regional situation and security issues.
Both parties highlighted the importance of political dialogue in the development of Azerbaijan–Sudan relations and cooperation within multilateral platforms. They emphasized the significance of the consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries, the joint working group on economic cooperation, and reciprocal visits. Sudan’s support for Azerbaijan’s positions and initiatives in international organizations, particularly the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement, was acknowledged with appreciation. Gratitude was also expressed for the educational scholarships provided to Sudanese students by Azerbaijan.
Minister Bayramov, in turn, briefed the ambassador on the 30-year Armenian occupation, as well as the peace process and reconstruction efforts in the post-conflict period.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
