A commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary, APA reports.

The event was attended by leaders and members of the Azerbaijan House in Hungary, the Representation of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth Organization in Hungary, the Association for Youth Development and Integration (AYID), representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, and students studying in Budapest from a number of foreign countries.

At the beginning of the event, the blessed memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was honored with a minute of silence.

Delivering the opening remarks, Tahir Taghizade, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary, provided detailed information about the Khojaly genocide committed by the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijanis and spoke about the consistent policy pursued by the Azerbaijani state to promote the truth about Khojaly at the international level.

At the same time, Ambassador T. Taghizadeh emphasized that under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the heroic Azerbaijani Army liberated our territories that had remained under enemy occupation for 30 years, and that today the waving of our tricolor flag in Khojaly represents the triumph of truth and justice.

Then, video clips dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy were screened, accompanied on the piano by Azerbaijani student Mahammad Jafarov.

The event continued with the screening of a video highlighting the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in Karabakh.
