It is extremely important to strengthen initiatives for peace, stability, security, prosperity, and cooperation in the region for the development of cooperation in all fields, said Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev at the trilateral meeting of government representatives of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran held in Baku, APA reports.

Shahin Mustafayev stated that in this regard, the relevance of the “3+3” regional consultation mechanism established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan is increasing: “This initiative complements existing bilateral and other cooperation formats, strengthens regional security and stability, and creates new opportunities for economic growth and progress.”

The promotion of economic and trade cooperation between our countries based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit is necessary. Along with this, work should be carried out continuously to create a favorable environment for the implementation of investment projects.

Let me also note that the trilateral meeting format between our countries was established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.”

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that based on that initiative, the first Summit meeting of the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Russian Federation was held in Baku on August 8, 2016: “Later, the second Summit meeting took place in Tehran on November 1, 2017. The Declaration of the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Russian Federation dated August 8, 2016, and the Joint Statement dated November 1, 2017, play an exceptional role in terms of economic cooperation, the development of safe and reliable regional and international transport corridors, and the implementation of projects in the energy sector. In addition to the Summit meetings, a meeting was held in 2022 in Baku with the participation of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia and the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

At the same time, holding meetings in the trilateral format between our countries carries special importance for deepening cooperation in economic-trade, transport-logistics, energy, and other mutually interesting fields.”
