Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev participated in the 23rd extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on August 27, APA reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agenda of the extraordinary meeting held at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, included the election of the new Secretary General of the OIC, as well as the issues of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
At the beginning of the event, a relevant decision was unanimously adopted on the election of the new Secretary General of the OIC. According to the decision, the only candidate for the relevant position, former Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, was elected the new Secretary General of the OIC.
