The issue concerning Azerbaijani citizens detained at Moscow's Zhukovsky Airport is under the supervision of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia, the Embassy told APA's Moscow bureau.
Currently consular staff are engaged in resolving the matter.
The Embassy also stated that Azerbaijani citizens must register in the relevant program and obtain permission 72 hours prior to entering the Russian Federation; however, unfortunately, our citizens do not comply with this requirement: “Therefore, they face these problems. There is also one more issue. Those detained at Zhukovsky Airport can be held there for up to a week. Because those detained there are returned to their countries by the Russian side themselves. Azerbaijani planes do not fly to Zhukovsky Airport, only Russian planes do. These flights operate twice a week: on the first and fourth days. Therefore, if the plane is not full tomorrow and there is space, they will send our citizens, whose video has been circulated, to Azerbaijan tomorrow. If there is no space, they will be sent on the first day of next week,” our interlocutor said.
