The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbuloglu sent a letter to the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin regarding the provocative video appeal of Konstantin Zatulin, the First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
The ambassador said in his address to the Duma chairman that Zatulin's action was not the first such case and that it caused concern. He noted that Zatulin has repeatedly made statements against the statehood and people of Azerbaijan.
"I note with regret that despite the fact that the Azerbaijani side has repeatedly appealed to the official bodies of the Russian Federation to prevent such inappropriate situations, effective measures have not yet been taken against K. Zatulin's provocation activities that undermine the alliance relations between our countries. All this continues to cause serious concern among the MPs of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) and in the public environment of our country, it worries the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in Russia and has a negative impact on the inter-parliamentary cooperation of the two countries. In this regard, I urgently ask you, dear Vyacheslav Viktorovich, to take a principled approach to this issue and to do everything possible to prevent such provocative actions by Zatulin in the future, in accordance with the official position of the Russian Federation and the regulations of the State Duma," the diplomat stressed.
Noted that on September 2, Deputy Chairman of Duma's Committee on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, staunch pro-Armenian, MP Konstantin Zatulin released a video message "congratulating" the Armenian people on the occasion of the "Independence Day" of the so-called "DQR", which was destroyed by the anti-terrorist measures held in September of last year.
