Azerbaijani Ambassador presents credentials to Djibouti President

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ruslan Nasibov, has presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, the Embassy told APA.

The President of Djibouti has conveyed the sincere greetings of the President of Azerbaijan, and in return, he requested that his heartfelt greetings be conveyed to President Ilham Aliyev.

Meetings were also held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf; the Chairman (Minister) of the Council of Maritime Ports and Free Trade Zones, Aboubaker Omar Hadi; the Chair of the Djibouti-Azerbaijan Friendship Group in the Parliament, Ilaya Ismail; and the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an organization based in Djibouti that unites eight countries in the East African region, Workneh Gebeyehu.

The meetings discussed the situation in the regions where the countries are located, including the new reality created by Azerbaijan in the region after restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty, the progress of the normalization process with Armenia, practical steps to be taken to develop relations between Azerbaijan and Djibouti, both at the international and bilateral levels, and the IGAD Executive Secretary and the countries of the region, as well as exchange of visits.
